So asserts D. Razumilov, a Russian national, claiming that his iPhone turned him to homosexuality. He has opened a lawsuit against Apple stating that the company pushed and manipulated him to homosexuality, causing him irreparable grievance, and moral and mental harm. The lawsuit was accepted as valid by Moscow Presnensky District Court, and both parties were cited for an initial appearance October 17th.
Razumilov declares that in 2017 he received a cryptocurrency payment of 69 “GayCoins”, delivered via a smartphone app, rather than the Bitcoin he ordered. Included was the message “don’t judge without trying”. Years later, Razumilov now finds himself in a committed relationship with another man. In his court statement Razumilov says, “I thought, in truth, how can I judge something without trying? I decided to try same-sex relationships. Now I have a boyfriend, and I do not know how to explain this to my parents… My life has been changed for the worse and will never be normal again.”
The lawsuit demands 1,000,000 rubles (approximately 15,000 USD). Lawyer Sapizhat Gusnieva said this is a valid complaint and that Apple has a responsibility for applications used on their phones. Russian Apple representatives have not responded for comments. Is this a frivolous lawsuit? A cash grab? Or does he have a case? Tell us what you think below.
